Focusing on the US experience, this article uses census and economic data to show that the impact of granting women property rights was not only important morally and socially but had great economic and financial value. Equal rights contributed significantly to Increasing the holdings of personal property, which, in turn, led to financial deepening reflected by a developed credit market and lower interest rates.
