Yandex and New Economic School have opened a joint study program

"Economics and data science" that was designed by NES and Yandex is a two-year program. It includes economic disciplines as well as data analysis courses. In particular, listeners of the program will study machine learning, programming, finance and applied statistics. They will have an opportunity to work on a study project aimed to developed practical skills. Graduates could work on research in the economic field, work in IT-companies, banks and in real sector - for instance, make predictions on demand or model consumer behaviour. This year only 10 people will be enrolled and the whole program will be free of charge.

"We don't have a lot of specialists that know data analysis and economics in the mean time. And such people are needed, because it is important not only to work with data, but to understand the nature of it - to know economic mechanisms and people's behaviour", says Elena Bunina, General Director of Yandex Russia and Research Director of Yandex School of Data Analysis.

"The market needs people who know data analysis and know how to ask correct economic questions. One thing is to build mathematical model, and completely another is to think of how to apply it correctly, for example, to increase the company's profit. "Economics and data science" will join together the expertise of Yandex and NES and will be the first program of this level in Russia", says NES Rector Ruben Enikolopov.

To enroll in a program the applicants have to make applications to Yandex school of data analysis (until the 7th of May) and to pass NES exams (math and English).
