This year the New Economic School has turned 30. The International Conference on Economics and Finance, as a key NES30 event, was held online from December 5 to 10.
The scientific committee included: Anna Mikusheva (MIT), Oleg Itskhoki (UCLA), Georgy Egorov (Northwestern), Lidia Kosenkova (Virginia), Ruben Enikolopov (Pompeu Fabra and NES), Mikhail Drugov (NES), Olga Kuzmina (NES, local organizer).
The conference was opened on December 5 with a plenary session in memory of the NES cofounder Gur Ofer. The session was attended by Professors Shlomo Weber, Barry Ickes, Valery Makarov, Victor Polterovich. The speakers shared their memories and kind words about Gur Ofer, noted his talent and enthusiasm, and his contribution to the foundation of NES.
The discussed topics: macroeconomics, international economics, development economics, econometrics, asset valuation, corporate finance, etc. The sessions were attended by representatives of the NES academic community: alumni, current and former professors of the School.
