Ruben Enikolopov will continue to be the Rector of NES for another three years


On June 17, at 68th meeting, NES Board of Directors made a decision to re-elect the Rector of the New Economic School Ruben Enikolopov. He will continue to lead the School from September 1, 2020, to August 31, 2023. Ruben Enikolopov has been the Rector of NES since September 2018.

Ruben Enikolopov is a Moscow State University and New Economic School (MAE’2002) alumnus. In 2008 he earned his PhD in Economics from Harvard University. Ruben Enikolopov is Professor at NES (since 2008) and at Pompeu Fabra University, Spain (since 2013). In 2012-2013 he also worked at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton.  

Research interests of Ruben Enikolopov include political economy, the economics of mass media, development economics, and data analysis. His works are published in the top-5 economic academic journals according to Scopus. 

"I am deeply grateful to the Board of Directors for their trust and I will try to do the best I can so that NES remains one of the leading economic institutes in Russia", Ruben Enikolopov said.

The Board of Directors is the governing body of the New Economic School, founded in October 2004. The Board makes strategic and operational decisions,  provides overall direction, approves the NES' mission, strategic development plan, and budget. Presently, the Board of Directors includes Peter Aven, Erik Berglof, Maxim Boycko, Mikhail Dmitriev, Arkady Dvorkovich, Dzhangir Dzhangirov, Ruben Enikolopov, Barry W. Ickes, Valery Makarov, Andrei Vavilov, Shlomo Weber, Ksenia Yudaeva. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Alexei Kudrin.
