Speaking at the Conference NES Rector Shlomo Weber told the audience about the history of Hebrew and Esperanto, the connection between languages with the culture and economy of the country, as well as about the role of languages in rallying of the nation and its development.
“I do not believe that in the future there will be only one single language”, said Shlomo Weber. “I think we will live in a multilingual world. Even with the current level of globalization, there are so many ethnic and social groups of people that do not want to lose their ethnic identity, thus this seems to be the most likely option. See how French and German languages are fighting for their existence, how many Goethe Institutes there are around the world. Indeed, some languages are disappearing, but we will live in a multilingual world anyway”, suggested Rector answering the question from the audience whether humanity will eventually come to one language.
Also, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa Banking Group, a member of the Board of Directors and the Board of Trustees of NES Endowment Peter Aven spoke at the Conference with the lecture “ “The second and only”. A talk about the movie, the school and time”. He told the audience about a Physics and Mathematics Lyceum “School №2”, popular back in the 1960s which was one the best schools of that time.
