From September 1 the New Economic School is headed by Ruben Enikolopov, an economist, graduate of the School and Harvard University. New Rector will remain a Professor and a member of the Committee of Directors, as well as continue his scientific and academic activities.
The predecessor of Professor Enikolopov, Professor Shlomo Weber is now the President of the New Economic School, and the full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Makarov is the Honorary President. Among the duties of Professor Weber is the development of relationships with partners, Russian and foreign universities.
"With Shlomo Weber, who headed the School since 2015, the situation in NES stabilized and the university came back to the right track of development. For that we thank him. My task now is to continue these positive developments. Priority for me will be the focus on the academic component, fundraising issues and increasing the role of graduates in the life of the School. In order to stay the first, we have to run forward with a wild speed", Ruben Enikolopov said.
In 2008 Ruben Enikolopov became a Professor of the New Economic School and in 2013 took a position of a Professor at Pompeu Fabra University (Spain). In 2012-2013 he also worked at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton.
New Rector finished Moscow State University with distinction in 2001 and in 2002 got his master's degree from New Economic School. Later in 2008 he received his PhD in Economics from Harvard University. Research interests of Ruben Enikolopov include political economy, the economics of mass media and economics of developing countries, data analysis, and digital economy. His works are published in the Top-5 scientific economic journals according to Scopus.
