Steven Durlauf Joins NES as Part-Time Professor


Professor Steven Durlauf joined NES faculty as a part-time professor starting December 1, 2020. Steven is Stearns Professor of Educational Policy at University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. He has BA from Harvard and Ph.D. from Yale.

Steven Durlauf is one of the most influential and cited economists in the world with a wide range of research interests spanning from economic theory to econometrics and empirical analysis in the areas of poverty, inequality, social interactions and economic growth. He is also currently an editor of the Journal of Economic Literature.

Steven Durlauf is a member of NES International Advisory Board since 2016. For a number of years he was an active participant in a number of activities organised by the New Economic School’s Center for the Study of Diversity and Social Interactions and already taught a course at the MAE Program. In the coming years Professor Durlauf will continue teaching at the MAE program, mentor junior faculty, help to develop the NES PhD program and participate in NES research projects, including joint projects with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
