The Committee for Development Policy (CPD) is a think tank at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The task of the CDP is to provide independent advice to the Council on how international cooperation for development could be improved. The Committee is also responsible for the revision of the criteria and the list of the least developed countries (LDCs).
This year, at the plenary session the Committee discussed recommendations for ECOSOC on the design of next program of actions for LDC, the problems with development policies when multilateralism is under a threat, and the need to facilitate the progress of all countries toward achieving Global Development Goals.
NES Professor Natalya Volchkova became a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council from the 1st of January 2019.
