September 1-2, 2022, the annual international conference Jornadas de Economía Industrial was held in the Spanish city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for the 36th time. At the plenary session “Frontiers in Theoretical Industrial Organization” NES Professor Mikhail Drugov made a presentation on “Score disclosure” (joint with Levent Celik). Mikhail spoke about why firms might disclose only general information about their product − an average score across different product dimensions. If consumers have the same preferences for each dimension of the product – “the more, the better”, that is, all dimensions are vertical − it may seem that there should be full unraveling along every dimension, that it, full disclosure. Yet, there is an equilibrium in which firms disclose only the score and moreover, they earn more than under full disclosure.
The Jornadas is an annual international meeting of researchers in Industrial Economics organized by the Industrial Economics Committee of the Spanish Economic Association (AEE) since 1985. The meeting has provided an opportunity for researchers in Industrial Economics to discuss their ongoing work, share ideas and network.
