On January 13, 2022, winners of the grants for the development of science, education and public outreach from the Presidential Grant Foundation were announced at a meeting of the Coordinating Committee headed by the First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko. The grant will be used to further develop NES popular science website GURU and support creation of new content and invite new speakers and partners.
The 12th competition of the Presidential Grant Foundation attracted over 10,000 entries from all Russian regions. They were reviewed by 563 independent experts during 5 weeks.
“Promoting education and economic knowledge is part of the mission of the New Economic School. Throughout its history, NES has always been paying particular attention to this work, and the launch of GURU brought these activities to a new level. Public outreach also has an important place in the strategy of the School’s development, and we are very happy that our efforts to spread economic knowledge and financial literacy among the general public were supported at a high state level through the presidential grant,” NES Rector Ruben Enikolopov said.
GURU is a popular science website that was launched in September 2021 to share economic and financial knowledge and already contains many interesting materials on economics, finance, education and more. You can find lectures, podcasts, dialogues, articles, and other content.
Funding from the Presidential Grant Foundation will be used to expand GURU website’s technical capacity, launch new formats, including online tests, quizzes and other interactive forms of scientific communication, restructure the Library section, as well as to attract new partners interested in promoting academic knowledge and solving important social problems, such as improving financial literacy, developing financial inclusion, ensuring financial security, etc.
