Marta Troya-Martinez delivered a keynote lecture at the Max Planck Summer School


NES Professor Marta Troya-Martinez gave a keynote speech at The Political Economy of Conflict and Redistribution (PolEcCon) Summer School 2024, which took place on July 29 — August 1 at the historical Harnack House of the Max Planck Society in Berlin.

Marta Troya-Martinez delivered a lecture “Coercion or Backloading? The Geoeconomics of Contract Enforcement” based on her research titled “I'll pay you later: Backloading to sustain opportunistic relationships”, co-authored with Elena Paltseva, NES graduate (MAE’1998) and Professor at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics, and NES Professor Gerhard Toews.

Among other lecturers there were researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance, Chapman University, University of Innsbruck, University of Iowa, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Maastricht University.

The summer school is aimed at young researchers in the early stage of their careers as PhD students and postdocs, notably in the fields of Economics and Political Science. The School provides research-oriented lectures by senior experts in the field of the Political Economy of Conflict and Redistribution.
