Arthur M. Okun Professor of Economics and Global Affairs at Yale University Aleh Tsyvinski joined NES faculty as a visiting professor. At first, he will be spending at NES at least two months a year and will teach a course within the MA in Economics Program. Further on, the School plans to extend cooperation with the professor who was earlier a member of the NES International Advisory Board.
Aleh Tsyvinski is a graduate of the Belarus State Economic University, and has MA and PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota. He is one of the world’s leading macroeconomic theorists with fundamental contributions to theory of optimal taxation, political economy, and finance. Having received full professorship at 29, he is one of the youngest full professors in the history of Yale. He is also a Co-Director of Macroeconomic Research Program at Cowles Foundation at Yale.
Professor Tsyvinski has received several major awards including NSF Career Grant, Alfred Sloan Fellowship, and Guggenheim Fellowship. He is also Distinguished Visiting Professorship at Tsinghua University. His research was published in the top journals in economics and finance, including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Economic Studies, and other. Tsyvinski’s work has had major impact on policy debate and was profiled on the cover of the Financial Times, in the Economist, and at the opening plenary session of the World Economic Forum in Davos as well as many other international media.
