Aleh Tsyvinski, Arthur M. Okun Professor of Economics and Global Affairs at Yale University and NES visiting professor, and Ekaterina Zhuravskaya, a member of the NES International Advisory Board and professor of the Paris School of Economics, were elected as the new Fellows of The Econometric Society.
Aleh Tsyvinski is one of the world’s leading macroeconomic theorists with fundamental contributions to theory of optimal taxation, political economy, and finance. He earlier served on the NES International Advisory Board.
Ekaterina Zhuravskaya is a leading scholar in the field of Political Economy, and also a world expert in studying the Economics of the Media. Professor Zhuravskaya also explores the topics of federalism, bankruptcy regulation, privatization, corruption, ethnic diversity and entrepreneurship. She was a professor at NES from 2000 till 2013.
Fellows represent the highest authority in the Society. The Society’s members nominate new Fellows each year in the fall. To be eligible for nomination as a Fellow, a candidate must have published original contributions to economic theory or such statistical, mathematical, or accounting analyses as having a definite bearing on problems in economic theory.
The Econometric Society is an international society for the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics. The main activities of the Society are:
- Publication of the journals Econometrica, Quantitative Economics, and Theoretical Economics.
- Publication of a research Monograph Series.
- Organization of scientific meetings in six regions of the world.
