On this International Women's day, stop for a moment to count both the costs of discrimination against women and the virtues of equal rights. While one cannot overstate the value and morality of giving women equal rights, Hazan, Weiss and Zoabi (2021), in their new paper find that equal rights for women cause a "household revolution" that includes decreased fertility and more education for their children, which in turn promote growth and development.
