Natalya Volchkova Nominated for 2nd Term at UN Committee for Development Policy

NES Professor Natalya Volchkova has been nominated by the US Secretary-General among 24 international experts for appointment, in their personal capacity, as members of the Committee for Development Policy (CDP) for a three-year term beginning on 1 January 2022 and expiring on 31 December 2024.

The Committee for Development Policy is a subsidiary advisory body of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Membership is geared to reflect a wide diversity of development experience, comprising ecologists, economists and social scientists, as well as geographical balance, gender balance and a balance between continuity and change in the membership of the Committee.

Once a year members of the Committee come together in order to present the report on the work they have done. The Committee advises ECOSOC on a wide range of issues that are relevant for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Additionally, every three years the CDP reviews the least developed country category and recommends which countries should be included into or graduated from the list.
