NES Signs Partnership Agreements with University of Bonn and African School of Economics

The New Economic School has signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Bonn. According to the agreement, up to two students of the Joint NES-HSE Bachelor Program or any of the NES Master’s Programs will be able to study for free at the University of Bonn during a semester.

The University of Bonn is one of the leading economic universities in Europe. It played a crucial role in the development of economic theory at the end of the last century both in Europe and worldwide. It holds high positions in international rankings; in particular, it is ranked 31st among the economics schools all over the world in a prestigious Tilburg Ranking. Reinhard Selten, Professor of the University of Bonn, received the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics in 1994.

NES has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the African School of Economics (ASE). ASE is the best school in economics and finance in Africa, founded by Leonard Wantchekon, a renowned economist and Professor at Princeton University.

Among the possible areas of cooperation there are exchange programs and joint projects on the study of African economy, which has recently been an important part of economic research. The current agreement can play a central role in the development of this area. A number of students from ASE will participate in the NES-HCEO-CREC Virtual Summer School on Socioeconomic Inequality 2021, scheduled for June 28-July 2, 2021.

The New Economic School has agreements with 18 universities, including Bocconi University, Pompeu Fabra University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and others. All of them are aimed at conducting joint research projects, seminars, conferences and guest lectures as well as developing student programs, including exchanges, which allow NES students to study for free at the host university and NES to accept students from the partner universities.
